The NSSN sends our congratulations and solidarity to the Rolls Royce workers at Barnoldswick in Lancashire and their union Unite. Nine weeks of trike action has forced the company back after outsourcing of work threatened its future. Once again, it shows that taking action works.   This week’s NSSN bulletin headlines with two co-ordinated strikes by low-paid workers. This Thursday October 28th, hundreds of outsourced mainly migrant workers in the United Voices of the World union (UVW), will strike together over five different employers – Royal Parks, University of Greenwich, St Mary’s Hospital, Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and 200 Gray’s Inn Road, the headquarters of ITV and Channel 4.   The NSSN sends solidarity to Birmingham Council Unison members, who are stepping up their action. This report is from a Birmingham NSSN supporter:- Birmingham home care workers are starting 14 days of discontinuous strike action on 9 August in protest at the Labour council’s attempts to create a completely part-time workforce which would mean that many workers would be unable to pay household bills. If the workers don’t accept either 14, 21 or 22.75 hours contracts they will be made compulsorily redundant.
