382: NSSN Conference July 7 – support June 30 NHS protest

  The NSSN steering committee has decided to put our annual conference back a week to avoid a clash of dates with a national day of action to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the NHS on June 30th. We will do all we can to build these protests against continuing Tory health cuts. 29 day Future Directions strike ends

The long-running dispute by care-workers at Future Directions in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, has ended in a settlement which their union Unison sees as a victory. Future Directions (FD) is a private company wholly owned by Lancashire-based Calderstones NHS trust. When FD was awarded the contract by Rochdale council to provide care for seriously disabled adults in the borough, it imposed massive pay cuts on staff of up to 40% plus various other attacks on terms and conditions.
