Royal Mail workers in the Communication Workers Union (CWU) union, part of the Eastern 6 Branch, won a tremendous victory last week in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, despite the new Tory trade Union Act. A CWU member sent in the following report:- “Royal Mail had suspended two representatives for allegedly claiming unauthorised overtime. CWU members took unofficial industrial action across 9 Royal Mail offices on Monday. Ex-Visteon/Ford workers march for pensions justice

Former employees of Visteon/Ford marched today from Unite HQ in Holborn to Parliament to demand pensions justice. The workers were robbed of their pensions when Visteon went bust in 2009. Since then the Visteon Pensions Justice Action Group have campaigned tirelessly for the parent company, Ford, to live up to it’s obligations to the workers. The march was a success with hundreds gathering from former plants in Swansea, Belfast, Enfield and Basildon. A BBC survey purported to show that over 40% of those interviewed had not noticed a change to local government services since austerity took hold. Some even thought services had improved!
