346: March together Saturday: fight together to get Tories out!

June 27, 2017 in Bulletins

The General Election result has shocked the Tories and the media but it has confirmed that we’ve had enough of brutal cuts. Jeremy Corbyn’s manifesto gave workers the opportunity to express their anger. On the massive March 26th 2011 TUC demonstration, up to 750,000 trade unionists and anti-cuts campaigners marched against Cameron’s austerity plans. The NSSN produced a flyer that day that warned “This is the fight of our lives…literally.” The tragedy of Grenfell has laid bare the effects of cut-backs, privatisation and de-regulation that the Tories call ‘red-tape’ but actually protect lives. The likes of Boris Johnson praise emergency […]

June 6, 2017 in Bulletins

This week’s NSSN bulletin comes out just days before one of the most crucial general elections for generations. July 15, 2015 in Bulletins

If anyone had any doubts about the power of the organised working-class, the incredible strikes on London Underground and First Great Western by tube and railworkers’ unions last week were a tremendous demonstration of what the unions can do if they take determined action. The NSSN salutes the strikes as well as the co-ordinated Budget Day strikes by workers in the National Gallery, Barnet, Bromley, the protests against victimisation at Sotheby’s and the Youth Against Austerity mobilisations by Youth Fight for Jobs. But it also wasn’t lost on the Tories. They have now outlined their vicious anti-union laws in the […]

Republished from PCS website The chancellor has today announced more cuts in government departmental budgets and an increase in state pension age. George Osborne said in his autumn statement that UK state pension age is to increase more rapidly to 68, making it one of the highest in the developed world.
