Southern Rail strikes Today, members of train drivers’ union ASLEF have started strike action on Southern Rail. This comes after weeks of action by RMT members. ASLEF successfully defeated management’s attempts to yet again undemocratically scupper their strike through court action. Glasgow City Council’s ruling Labour Group is proposing that the council’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) provision is privatised to a Canadian based global corporation. Members of Glasgow Unions in ICT have been taking strike action to stop this. Watch video interview on Facebook   and Twitter Hundreds of electricians walked off construction sites on the massive Crossrail job in London last Friday demanding that management adhere to the Joint Industry Board (JIB) agreement on the payment of a 2nd tier productivity bonus . Teaching assistants in Durham in Unison and ATL have started their first 48-hour strike today to prevent pay cuts of up to 23%. TAs in Derby have recently been taking strike action against similar cuts to pay.
