NSSN 337: Support the fight for pensions at BMW, AWE, Fujitsu & Royal Mail!

This week sees another dispute flaring into action over employers closing final salary/defined benefits pension schemes as BMW car workers start five weeks of strike action at Oxford, Swindon, Hams Hall near Birmingham and Goodwood. Workers at the Atomic Weapons Establishment will have taken 16 days of strikes after voting by 80% in a re-ballot to continue and escalate the action with 8 further days of action into May. From Katrine Williams – PCS DWP Group Vice President & NSSN Vice-Chair As part of the Tory offensive against the public sector the chancellor has announced a 20% reduction in DWP offices and more job centres to share sites in local authority premises to deliver 30% saving on estates costs. This fits in with the approaching end of the contract with the company which owns the DWP estate.
