Work in Fast Food? Join the BFAWU – £10Now!

August 7, 2015 in Appeals

Dear Comrades   Fast food Workers in the united states are registering  victory after victory. The fight for $15 and a union is winning increases in minimum wage in cities across the states. Some of the most oppressed working class people in America are driving the political agenda of the Presidential election and forcing the likes of Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama to make statements in support of their cause and in support of unions in general.   Workers in the US started in the same position as workers in the UK with small numbers of fast food workers engaged […]

A New Year’s message from BFAWU President Ian Hodson

December 31, 2014 in News

As 2014 nears its end, we can take heart in the fact that God willing, we may only have to endure another five months or so of this nasty, vindictive and rotten government. During his time in office, the Prime Minister, David Cameron has dusted off all the old World War quotes and rolled out the barrel of ‘digging in for victory’ rhetoric. He even went as far to say that the UK “is in the economic equivalent of war today” – and therefore, the spirit of World War II must be recreated in Whitehall. If he’s talking about people […]

222: “Its time to resist Osborne’s escalation of the cuts!”

December 11, 2014 in Bulletins

In last week’s NSSN e-bulletin, we exposed the step change in the ConDems’ austerity offensive, announced in Osborne’s Autumn Statement. It seems our figure of £35-50billion underestimated the scale of this attack! By last weekend, it was estimated by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) and the Institute of Fiscal Studies (IFS) that 60% of the cuts are still to be made, with £55billion to come on top of the £45billion that have already been carried out. This represents a catastrophe for working-class people and the vast majority in society. The NSSN calls on the trade union leaders, when they […]

201: NSSN rally at TUC Congress:‘Confirm the next pay strikes!’

July 16, 2014 in Bulletins

The tremendous #J10 public sector strike last Thursday has changed the mood music. All of a sudden it is the government desperately re-arranging the deck chairs on its Titanic with its latest re-shuffle. As the NSSN predicted, if the unions give workers a lead, they will respond. Not only that, the action was overwhelmingly popular as all those who have suffered from these cruel cuts were delighted to support someone standing up for them. This is particularly the case as Labour shamefully refused to support the strike. But it was clear on July 10 that workers realise that to win, […]

NSSN 199: Come to NSSN14 this Saturday, build mass July10 strike

July 2, 2014 in Bulletins

The line-up for the July 10 strike is now complete. The FBU has today announced that fire-fighters defending their hard won pension rights will be walking out on the same day as up to 1½ million council and school workers, teachers, civil servants and others who are resisting the continuing public sector pay freeze. Workers from Unison, PCS, Unite, GMB, NUT, FBU and NIPSA will be on strike together. Transport for London workers as well as power control operators on London Underground will also be out on strike that day, meaning that RMT and TSSA can be added to the […]
